In this droplets of test solutions are put on the intact skin especially of the fore-arm and the skin under the test solution is abraded very superficially with a special lancet to allow the test solution just to seep in the top layer of the skin.
In an allergic individual a weal and oedema will form within 30-minutes at the test site. The test is useful in persons who have urticaria and may be allergic to certain foods, pollens, grass, insect bites or house dust etc.
