Dr Obaidur Rehman did his early schooling from St Paul’s English High School, situated next to St Joseph’s School for girls in Saddar area Karachi. He left the school in 1970 and joined Aisha Bawany School in the same year and did his matriculation in 1972 from there. He was admitted to Aisha Bawany Science college in 1972 and completed the pre-medical curriculum in 1974. He was admitted to Sind Medical College, Karachi in 1975 and graduated as a medical doctor in January 1982. Sind Medical College is affiliated with the prestigious Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi. After completion of Surgical & Medical internship under guidance of Professor Surgeon Abdul Karim Siddiqui and Professor Saleh Memon at Civil Hospital, Karachi, Dr Obaid proceeded to United States to do his M.D. from Dallas, Texas. After that he returned back to Karachi in 1985 to offer his services at the Department of Dermatology, Civil Hospital Karachi. In 1986 he thus went and joined the prestigious St John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin / Institute of Dermatology, University of London; St Thomas’s Hospital, London; Hospital For Sick Children on Great Ormond Street London, Stoke Mandeville Hospital just outside London. There he learnt the principles of Dermatology under the guidance of Prof Edward Wilson Jones, Prof Malcolm Greaves, Prof M M Black, Dr E Cronin and a number of consultants. After returning back to Pakistan in 1988 he started his clinic at Taj Medical Complex and Shan Hospital For Women & Children, Karachi. Soon afterwards his presence as a competent Dermatologist was desired by several hospitals in Karachi. In 1992 he was invited by an aesthetician in Naples, Italy to see the demonstration of the Micro-Peeling (Dermoabrador) machine manufactured by SMEI srl and by another aesthetician in Switzerland to see the latest He-Ne Laser equipment for the treatment of hair loss and dandruff. In 1993, Hair Treatment Clinics Limited UK, through its CEO Mr N J Mitchell-Smith offered training on InterPlant technique for restoration of baldness in both men and women. Recently Dr Obaid was invited by Allergan Ltd (UK) to attend the course on the injection techniques of Botox used in the treatment of Wrinkles and Folds and Hyperhidrosis ( a condition in which there is excessive sweating on the palms and soles ). Besides the treatment of wrinkles and folds etc, Botox is being successfully being used for certain eye and neurological disorders in children and adults. Q-Med of Sweden the manufacturer of non-animal hyaluronic acid ( Restylane ) arranged a workshop with Dr Rita Rakus better known as Lip Queen of London who imparted training to Dr Obaidur Rehman on the injection techniques to make lips look pouty and the famous PARIS LIPS. |
